ZERO NIC

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 4, 2026

Zero Nic is a smoking-cessation companion app operated by Luka Bugarin in Serbia ("Zero Nic", "we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles, why it is used, and which service providers process it. Your core app data is stored on your device. Optional AI, purchase, and crash-reporting features use the providers described below.

What we collect

Zero Nic has no user accounts or cloud database. Your name, smoking profile, journal entries, reflections, urge history, quit date, course progress, settings, and locally saved AI chat history are stored locally on your device. We do not receive this local data unless you choose to use a feature that sends specific data to a provider, as explained below.

Data that leaves your device

Some features involve third parties. Each is listed below.

1. AI conversations (Premium)

When you choose to use the "Talk it through" AI feature, the recent portion of the conversation and limited context — such as your stated urge trigger and cigarettes-per-day figure — are sent through our Cloudflare Worker and then to Google's Gemini API to generate a reply. The Worker uses the request IP address in volatile memory to enforce short-term and daily rate limits, adds the server-side API credential, and forwards the request to Google. We do not intentionally write the conversation, response, or IP address to persistent Worker storage. Cloudflare may process standard network metadata while delivering the request.

Cloudflare and Google process this data to provide and protect the AI feature under their own privacy terms. Do not include information in AI conversations that you would not want processed by these providers.

2. Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple App Store / Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes a pseudonymous app user ID, product and transaction information, and entitlement status so the app can unlock and restore Premium. We do not receive your payment-card details.

3. Crash reporting

If the app crashes, a technical crash report (device model, OS version, stack trace) may be sent to Sentry so we can fix the bug. Crash reports are configured not to send default personally identifiable information. We do not intentionally attach journal content, smoking-profile data, or AI conversations to crash reports.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No notification content or schedule is sent to any server.

Data export and deletion

You can export your local app data at any time (Settings → Export my data) and restore it from that file. The exported file is a separate copy outside the app; you control where it is stored and must delete it separately if you no longer want it.

Deleting the app removes its locally stored data, and automatic Android app-data backup is disabled. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete purchase records held by the app store or RevenueCat, or technical crash reports already sent to Sentry.

Purposes and legal bases

We process data needed to provide features you request, including AI replies and purchase restoration. We rely on our legitimate interests to diagnose crashes, secure the AI endpoint, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable. Where applicable law requires consent, you may withdraw it by stopping use of the optional feature or changing the relevant device permission.

Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall the app. The Cloudflare Worker does not use persistent storage for AI conversations or its in-memory rate-limit data. RevenueCat and the app stores retain purchase records as needed to administer entitlements and meet legal obligations. Sentry retains technical crash reports only for the period configured for our project and as needed to investigate and correct technical issues.

International processing and providers

Cloudflare, Google, RevenueCat, Sentry, Apple, and Google Play may process data in countries outside your own. Their processing is subject to their applicable contractual and legal safeguards. You can review the privacy information for Cloudflare, Google, RevenueCat, and Sentry.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of your personal data. Most app data can be exported or deleted directly on your device. For provider-held operational data, contact us using the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law. You may also lodge a complaint with the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection or your local data-protection authority.

Health disclaimer

Zero Nic is an educational and motivational companion. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. If you have health concerns about smoking or quitting, consult a healthcare professional.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 16. Do not use the app if local law requires a higher age for consenting to data processing without a guardian.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app.
